Apply for a visa for France
Visa applications submitted in Copenhagen are examined by the consular section of the Embassy of France in Denmark; only the consular section is authorized to take decisions about visas.
Prior appointment by email is required if you would like to submit a visa application.
The processing time is approximately from 3 working days to 15 working days. This instruction delay processing time is given as general guidelines and will vary according to different factors. Be aware that there is no fast track or rush procedure.
Whom should I contact?
Visa applications submitted in Denmark are examined by the visa section of Embass of France in Denmark. Only the Embassy is authorized to take decisions about visas.
What are the application fees?
Fees are charged in Danish Krones by the French administration for the processing of your application. The rates are indicated in euros (€), to get the price in local currency (DKK), please convert the amount indicated in the table by applying the rate
of Chancery: 1 DKK = 0,134 €
File fees are payable exclusively in Danish Krones.
File fees are only payable in cash.
The amount received is kept by the administration, even in the case of refusal of Visa.
Important: incomplete applications will not be processed. Therefore, you are strongly advised to make sure that you have all the required documents according to the type of visa you are applying for.

Practical informations
When coming to the visa section to submit your application, do not forget :
- Your passport ;
- Your documents presented in order according to the list of requirements ;
- Your application and service fees.
NB: If your visa application is incomplete (i.e. missing documents), you may choose not to submit your application until you have all the required documents and come back at a later date. However, if you do decide to submit your incomplete application, you will be asked to sign a document indicating that your application is incomplete and that certain documents are missing.
Submitting a complete application does not guarantee that the consular authorities will grant you a visa.
Biometric data
All visas issued by France are biometric visas.
Applicants who are over 12 years of age are required to appear in person at the time of their first application. The following biometric identifiers are collected: a photograph, scanned or taken at the time of the application, and 10 fingerprints, taken flat and digitized.
However, it is possible to retrieve your biometric data if a previous biometric Schengen visa has been issued to you less than 59 months ago.
Children under 12 years of age: children under 12 years of age are not required to provide the biometric data, short stay Schengen visa application may be submitted by the child’s parent/legal guardian. The ISO/IEC format photograph (pdf) of the child will be scanned.
The non-EU nationals living in Denmark with a valid Schengen visa or a valid Danish residence permit are allowed to visit metropolitan France for a maximum period of 90 days in any 180-day period, as long as they bring along their valid passport.
The holders of a valid residence permit issued by a Schengen state are allowed to visit the French overseas departments and territories for a maximum of three months in any 6 months period. They need to take their valid passport issued within the past ten years along with the residence permit.
Residence permits issued by the authorities of the Feroe Islands and Greenland are valid only for these territories. They do not allow the non-EU nationals to enter the Schengen Space (except Denmark and Sweden).
