Apply for a visa for France in Saint Lucia

Visa applications filed in St. Lucia are processed by the Visa Department of the French Embassy to the OECS Member States and Barbados, in residence in Saint Lucia (whose consular jurisdiction applies for: Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, Tortola and Trinitad and Tobago), the only authority to make decisions on visas.

Nationals from Saint Lucia, Trinidad-and-Tobago, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, Anguilla and Tortola do not require a short-stay visa to enter France, as long as their stay does not extend 90 days over a period of 6 months.

Nationals from Saint-Lucia and Dominica do not require a visa to enter Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyane, Saint Martin and Saint-Barthélémy, for stays of 15 days or less, in the limit of 120 days over a period of 12 months.  

However, nationals from these countries who plan to work in France for a paid activity, must be provided with a temporary work permit when required by French law.

Specific rules apply for citizens coming from the British Territories of Anguilla, the British Virgin Islands and Montserrat, depending on the type of passport and the intended territory of destination.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to start your visa application process as early as possible. Processing times vary depending on the nationality of the applicant, the type of visa and the time of the year when the visa application is made. Due to peaks in demand for visas at certain times of the year, longer waiting times for appointments may apply. The time to get an appointment slot might take up to several weeks, especially during the summer season (May to September). Make sure to anticipate your request.

Who should I contact?

Visa applications for residents of the countries of the OECS and Barbados are examined by the visa section of the Embassy of France, only the Embassy is authorised to take decisions about visas.

To apply for a visa, the applicant must obtain an individual appointment and so must all minors whose names appear on their parent’s passport.

What are the application fees?

Fees are collected by the French administration for the processing of your application. Its amount is collected only in cash, in local currency (EC). Payment by check or credit card is not accepted. A receipt corresponding to the amount paid is given to the visa applicant.

The exact rate may differ due to the fluctuation of the Euro rate.
The administrative costs incurred for the processing of your application. The amount paid is kept by the administration, even in cases where visas are denied.


Book an appointment

Waiting times vary depending on the number of applicants and the season. The average processing time is usually between 3 to 15 days for short term visas. It can go up to 2 months for long-stay visas.

Applicants are therefore asked to arrange their appointment between 15 days to 2 months prior to departure.

Applications can not be made more than three months before your planned departure.

To apply for a visa, the applicant must obtain an individual appointment and so must all minors whose names appear on their parent’s passport.

If you wish to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please let us know in advance by writing or calling us.

At the end of the application process, you will receive a receipt. You will need to present this receipt at the reception of the consulate to collect your passport.

Practical information

You must attend your appointment in person with all the required documents. Also bring a copy of each document, including the passport and its ID pages.

The consulate will receive you, review your application, collect the visa fee, capture your biometric data (photo and fingerprints) and retain your passport and the copies of all your supporting documents.

To submit a visa application, you must provide at least the following:

  • A travel document in good condition, issued less than 10 years ago, with at least two blank pages, which is valid for at least three months on the date on which the requested visa expires.
  • The visa application form and a recent ID pictures (3.5 x 4.5 cm)
  • The supporting documents (originals and copy) depending on your situation and your plan
  • The administrative fees in cash (Eastern Caribbean dollars)

Important : All documents in languages other than French or English must be translated into French.

Only the agents from the visa department are allowed to ask for additional material.

Biometrics

All visas issued by the Embassy are biometric visas.

Any visa applicant aged 12 or older must submit his or her visa application in person. The following biometric data will be required: a photo (scanned or taken during your appointment), and ten individually-taken fingerprints.

If you hold a biometric Schengen visa issued within 59 months, your previous biometric data can be re-used.

Children under 12 are exempt from biometrics; the file must be presented by one of the child’s parents or by the person who has parental authority.

Only visa applicants can collect their visas. Passport collection and enquiries: without appointment, Monday to Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 pm, and Friday from 8.30 am to 1 pm.

Official passports

Holders of official passports (diplomatic or service) are welcomed with appointments on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday only from 8:30am to 12:00 pm.

The passports are collected daily from Monday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and Friday from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

Important: Incomplete files will not be processed.

The visa application for holders of diplomatic or service passports must be made at least 1 to 3 months before the desired departure date.

The visa application is processed in 3 to 15 working days after its submission.

Visas issued to official passport holders in the course of their duties are free of charge.

Représentation of other Schengen States

France represents the following Schengen states in St. Lucia: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Hungary, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Sweden.

France represents Switzerland only for certain categories of visas.

Persons wishing to visit one of these States for business, private or tourist stays may submit their application to the French Embassy in St. Lucia.
