Applying for a visa to visit France, in Malaysia

Visa applications submitted in Malaysia are examined by the Visa Section of the Embassy of France in Malaysia. The decision to issue or refuse a visa is made by the French Embassy only.


What are the visa fees ?

Fees are seen in ringgits (MYR) by the French administration for the processing of your application. The rates are indicated in euros (€). To get the price in local currency (MYR), please convert the amount indicated in the table by applying the rate of chancery.

File fees are payable exclusively in ringgits and in cash.

The amount received is kept by the administration, even in the case of refusal of Visa.

Additional information

Set up an appointment :

To apply for a visa, the applicant must book an individual appointment (set up an appointment).

Booking is available neither by phone call nor by coming to the consulate.

Before booking an appointment, you are strongly advised to make sure that you have all the required documents according to the type of visa you are applying for.

Appointment waiting times :

Waiting times vary depending on the number of applicants and periods of vacation.

Applicants are therefore asked to arrange their appointment at least:

    - 15 days prior to departure for a short-stay visa,
   - 1 month for a long-stay visa.

Applications cannot be made more than 6 months before your planned departure.

Security information :

For security reasons, luggage, suitcases, backpacks, and any other large bags are not allowed on the premises of the Embassy of France. Please make the proper arrangements before visiting the Embassy, since there is nowhere to store bags in the building. You will not be allowed to enter the Embassy with any of the aforementioned bags under any circumstances.

Collecting your passport :

You can collect your passport yourself, or have it collected by an authorized third-party.

Visa requirements for Malaysian passport holders

Nationals of Malaysia do not need a visa to go to France for touristic or business trips of a maximum of 90 days on a period of 6 months, provided that they do not have a professional activity remunerated or not.

Official passports

Holders of Malaysian official passport are exempt from short-stay visa for France.

Visas issued to holders of official passport (i.e. related to their functions) are free of charge.
