Applying for a visa for France in Liberia

Visa applications submitted with ordinary passports in Liberia are processed by the French Consulate General in Abidjan, which has sole authority on the visa decision making process.

Under the authority of the Consulate General of France in Abidjan, the VFS Global office in Monrovia is responsible for receiving visa applications, carrying out biometric data collection, providing information to applicants and collecting their passports following decisions by the Consulate General of France.

Processing times for short-stay visa applications vary according to the time of the year. During the low season, expect an average processing time of two to three weeks.

Processing times for long-stay visas also vary according to the reason for stay. Visa applications requiring verification of civil status can take several months to process.

Appointment waiting times

Visa applications can be submitted up to 6 months before the date of your planned stay in France and the Schengen area. You must take into account the time needed to make an appointment, as well as the time required by the Consulate General of France to process your application. The times indicated are indicative and do not bind either the consular authority or VFS Global. Appointments are given according to the processing capacity of the Consulate General.
